Tha Sathon
250px, Surat Thani railway station Tha Sathon ( th, ท่าสะท้อน) is a ''tambon'' (sub-district) of Phunphin District, Surat Thani province, southern Thailand. Description Tha Sathon is a hub for transportation of Surat Thani. It is the location of Surat Thani railway station, a provincial main station. Most tourists who travel by train from Hua Lamphong railway station in Bangkok tend to get off at this station to continue traveling to Ko Samui. Tha Sathon also has a few other railway stations. Tapi river, the main watercourse of the province, flows through the right side of the area and forms a line between Tha Sathon and Surat Thani city. A kamnan ( th, กำนัน) is a Thai governing official at the tambon ''Tambon'' ( th, ตำบล, ) is a local governmental unit in Thailand. Ban Na Doem ( th, บ้านนาเดิม, ) is a district (''amphoe'') of Surat Thani province, Thailand. Geography Ban Na Doem is in the center of Surat Thani Province. Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise): Mueang Surat Thani, Ban Na San, Khian Sa, and Phunphin. The Tapi River forms part of the western boundary of the district. A smaller river in the district is the Khlong Lamphun. Suthep Thaugsuban ( th, สุเทพ เทือกสุบรรณ; , ) (born 7 July 1949) is a Thai former politician and former Member of Parliament for Surat Thani province. Until 2011, he was secretary-general of the Democrat Party and a deputy prime minister under Abhisit Vejjajiva. He resigned his seat in Parliament in November 2013 to become the self-appointed Secretary-general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, which was conducting mass protests trying to unseat the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. After the military coup of May 22, 2014, Suthep was temporarily detained and placed under arrest by the new junta. He was released after four days, retired from politics, and entered Buddhist monastichood from July 2014 to July 2015.
