Texas–Texas Tech Football Rivalry
The Texas–Texas Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The winner of this gauntlet receives the other university's chancellor's sterling silver boot spurs which is what the name of the rivalry is named after. The Battle For The Chancellor's Spurs was played uninterrupted between the 1960 to 2023 college football seasons. After Texas has joined the SEC, the future of this game remains uncertain. Texas Longhorns Football
The Texas Longhorns football program is the intercollegiate team representing the University of Texas at Austin (variously Texas or UT) in the sport of American football. The Texas Longhorns, Longhorns compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). 1928 College Football Season
The 1928 football season had both the USC Trojans and the Georgia Tech Golden Tornado claim national championships. USC was recognized as champions under the Dickinson System, but the Rose Bowl was contested between the No. 2 and No. 3 Dickinson-rated teams, California and Georgia Tech. The game was decided by a safety scored after Roy "Wrong Way" Riegels ran 65 yards in the wrong direction. Vance Maree blocked the ensuing punt which gave Georgia Tech a safety deciding the 8–7 win. The Florida Gators led the nation in scoring as a team, led by its "Phantom Four" backfield, with 336 points. They were remembered by many sports commentators as the best Florida football team until at least the 1960s. KAMC
KAMC (channel 28) is a television station in Lubbock, Texas, United States, affiliated with American Broadcasting Company, ABC. It is owned by Mission Broadcasting, which maintains a local marketing agreement (LMA) with Nexstar Media Group, owner of CBS affiliate KLBK-TV (channel 13), for the provision of certain services. The two stations share studios on University Avenue in south Lubbock, where KAMC's transmitter is also located. History KAMC first began broadcasting in the fall of 1968 as KSEL-TV. The Double T is a logo that is the most readily identified symbol of Texas Tech University. History The Double T is generally attributed to Texas Tech University's, then Texas Technological College, first football coach, E. Y. Freeland, and assistant coach, Grady Higginbotham. The Double T's design draws upon the popular block T of the Texas A&M University logo, Higginbotham's alma mater. Southwest Conference
The Southwest Conference (SWC) was an NCAA Division I college athletic conference in the United States that existed from 1914 to 1996. Composed primarily of schools from Texas, at various times the conference also included schools from Oklahoma and Arkansas.
