2018 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship
The 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship was the 80th annual tournament to determine the national champions of NCAA Division I men's golf. It was contested from May 25 to 30 at the Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Oklahoma and hosted by Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State won its 11th team championship, defeating Alabama 5–0 in the finals. Broc Everett of Augusta won the individual championship in a sudden-death playoff over Brandon Mancheno of Auburn. Traverse City, Michigan
Traverse City ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Grand Traverse County, although a small portion extends into Leelanau County. Tom Doak
Tom Doak is a golf course architect. He has 6 courses ranked among the top 100 in the world according to the "Top 100 Courses in the World" March 2021 list compiled by ''Golf Magazine.'' These include Pacific Dunes in Oregon, Ballyneal in Colorado, Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand. Doak lives in Michigan. He was a student of golf course designer Pete Dye, although perhaps his greatest influence comes from Alister MacKenzie (whom Doak wrote a book about), designer of Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, and consultant to Bobby Jones at Augusta National. Ben Hogan
William Ben Hogan (August 13, 1912 – July 25, 1997) was an American professional golfer who is generally considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the game. He is notable for his profound influence on golf swing theory and his ball-striking ability. Hogan's nine career professional major championships tie him with Gary Player for fourth all-time, trailing only Jack Nicklaus (18), Tiger Woods (15) and Walter Hagen (11). Ludvig Åberg
Ludvig Noa Åberg (born 31 October 1999) is a Swedish amateur golfer. He rose to number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in September 2022, after becoming number one in the European Amateur Golf Ranking in April 2021. He was part of the Swedish team winning the 2019 European Amateur Team Championship and was runner-up at the 2021 European Amateur. Southwest Conference
The Southwest Conference (SWC) was an NCAA Division I college athletic conference in the United States that existed from 1914 to 1996. Composed primarily of schools from Texas, at various times the conference included schools from Oklahoma and Arkansas. For most of its history, the core members of the conference were Texas-based schools plus one in Arkansas: Baylor University, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, the University of Arkansas and the University of Texas at Austin. Jeff Mitchell (golfer)
Jeff Mitchell (born August 9, 1954) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s and 1980s. He has also been a head coach in various college men's and women's golf programs. Mitchell was born in Rockford, Illinois. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and was a member of the golf team. While a student at Texas Tech, he won the 1975 and 1976 West Texas Championships. Mitchell turned pro and joined the PGA Tour in 1976. Mitchell was a full-time member of the PGA Tour from 1977–1984. His career year was 1980 when he won the Phoenix Open by four strokes over Rik Massengale after having to Monday qualify, earned $111,217, and finished 37th on the money list. That year he was also first round co-leader at The Masters; he ended the tournament at T38, which was his best finish in a major championship.
