Texas Hill Country (AVA)
The Texas Hill Country AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio and west of Austin, Texas. The appellation is the third largest American Viticultural Area in geographic area behind the Upper Mississippi River Valley AVA and Ohio River Valley AVA, covering an area of over . Established in 1991, it is the southernmost AVA. Today, there are around 80 wineries/vineyards. Johnson City, Texas
Johnson City is a city and the county seat of Blanco County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,627 at the 2020 census. Founded in 1879, it was named for early settler James Polk Johnson, nephew to Sam E. Johnson, Sr. Johnson City is part of the Texas-German belt region. Syrah
Syrah (), also known as Shiraz, is a dark-skinned grape variety grown throughout the world and used primarily to produce red wine. Zinfandel (also known as Primitivo) is a variety of black-skinned wine grape. The variety is grown in over 10 percent of California vineyards. Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot is a variety of red wine grape, principally used in classic Bordeaux blends. It ripens much later than the other varieties in Bordeaux, often too late, so it fell out of favour in its home region. When it does ripen it adds tannin, colour and flavour, in small amounts, to the blend.
