Testosterone (2004 Film)
Testosterone ( el, Τεστοστερόνη/Testosteroni) is a Greek film directed by Giorgos Panousopoulos. It released in 2004 and it stars Dimitris Liakopoulos, Natalia Dragoumi, Dimitra Matsouka and others. The film won the third best film award and the award of the best leading actor in the Greek State Film Awards. The film was shot in Naxos. Plot A young man during military service takes his leave and goes to a Greek island in order to borrow an old car by his grandmother. Due to a breakdown in the car, he remains in the island more time until it is repaired. During his accommodation in the island, he ascertains that he comes across only women. At the beginning, he likes this situation but gradually it turns into a nightmare. Giorgos Panousopoulos ( el, Γιώργος Πανουσόπουλος) is a Greek cinematographer, film director and screenwriter. He worked on 37 films between 1964 and 2004. His 1985 film ''Mania'' was entered into the 36th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1988 film ''Love Me Not?'' was entered into the 46th Venice International Film Festival. Auguste Corteau ( el, Αύγουστος Κορτώ, links=no; born 1979) is the pen name of the Greek author Petros Hadjopoulos (Πέτρος Χατζόπουλος). Early life Corteau was born in Thessaloniki, in 1979. Career In addition to the fourteen novels, novellas and short stories collections he has published over the years, he has also worked extensively as a translator, and has translated into Greek numerous works by English-language writers, amongst them books by Nabokov, Banville, Updike, Annie Proulx and Cormac McCarthy. In 2004 Corteau won the Greek National Book Award for Children's Literature and the IBBY Prize for Best Children's Novel. Greek State Film Awards
The Greek State Film Awards ( el, Κρατικά Βραβεία Κινηματογράφου) was a part of Thessaloniki International Film Festival concerning exclusively Greek movies. It was one of the most important events in Greek cinema, from its institution in 1992 until 2008. Until 1991, only Greek movies participated in the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Since 1992 the festival became international and a separate award was instituted for Greek movies. At first the new award was named State Film Awards and later State Film Quality Awards (Κρατικά Κινηματογραφικά Βραβεία Ποιότητας). It was given out by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Apart from the best film award there were awards in other categories such as the best actor, actress, best director etc. In 2009, during the 50th Thessaloniki Festival, the Greek filmmakers decided to boycott the awards. Naxos
Naxos (; el, Νάξος, ) is a Greek island and the largest of the Cyclades. It was the centre of archaic Cycladic culture. The island is famous as a source of emery, a rock rich in corundum, which until modern times was one of the best abrasives available.
