Metal Testing
Metal testing is a process or procedure used to check composition of an unknown metal A metal () is a material that, when polished or fractured, shows a lustrous appearance, and conducts electrical resistivity and conductivity, electricity and thermal conductivity, heat relatively well. These properties are all associated wit ...lic substance. There are destructive processes and nondestructive processes. Metal testing can also include, determining the properties of newly forged metal alloys. With many chemical-property databases readily available, identification of unmarked pure, common metals can be a quick and easy process. Leaving the original sample in complete, re-usable condition. This type of testing is nondestructive. When working with alloys (forged mixtures) of metals however, to determine the exact composition, could result in the original sample being separated into its starting materials, then measured and calculated. After the components are known they can b ...

Test (law)
In law, a test is a commonly applied method of evaluation used to resolve matters of jurisprudence. In the context of a trial, a hearing, discovery, or other kinds of legal proceedings, the resolution of certain questions of fact or law may hinge on the application of one or more legal tests. Tests are often formulated from the logical analysis of a judicial decision or a court order where it appears that a finder of fact or the court made a particular decision after contemplating a well-defined set of circumstances. It is assumed that evaluating any given set of circumstances under a legal test will lead to an unambiguous and repeatable result. Kinds of legal tests * Bright-line rule * Balancing test International law * Berne three-step test * Habitual residence test * ''Caroline'' test Common law * "But-for" test Canada * ''Andrews'' test * Air of reality test (see alsR v Fontaine * Assumed Jurisdiction test *Central management and control test * ''Collins'' Tes ...

Test Match (rugby Union)
A test match in rugby union is an international match, usually played between two senior national teams, that is recognised as such by at least one of the teams' national governing bodies. Some teams do not represent a single country but their international games are still considered test matches (for example the British and Irish Lions). Likewise some countries award caps for games between their full national teams and some invitation teams such as the Barbarians. History The first men's international game of rugby football – between Scotland and England – was played at Raeburn Place, Edinburgh, the home ground of Edinburgh Academicals, on 27 March 1871. (This was six years before the first cricket test match, one year before the first association football international and 24 years before the first field hockey international.) The first recorded use of the word in relation to sport occurs in 1861 when it was used, especially by journalists, to designate the most impo ...

Test Match (rugby League)
A Test match is a historical term used in rugby league football which has no official use with the sports global governing body – the International Rugby League (IRL). The term predates the creation of the IRL, thus every national governing body has slightly varying definitions which has changed throughout history. As such, it is possible for a game to have test status in one nation but not the other. The Rugby Football League (RFL), the governing body in England and first governing body of the sport, currently defines a "Test Match" as "a game of Rugby League Football played between teams representing members of the IRL". The first official test match took place on 1 January 1908 when Wales defeated New Zealand 9–8 at the Aberdare Athletic Ground in Aberdare, Wales in front of approximately 15,000 fans. The match was the 29th game of the 1907–08 All Golds tour. Examples of differences in recognition A notable instance of a different in opinions of the status of past ...

Test (biology)
In biology, a test is the hard Seashell, shell of some spherical aquatic animals and protists, notably sea urchins and microorganisms such as testate foraminiferans, radiolarians, and testate amoebae. The term is also applied to the covering of scale insects. The related Latin term testa (botany), testa is used for the outer layer of the hard seed coat of plant seeds. Etymology The anatomical term "test" derives from the Latin word ''wikt:testa#Latin, testa'', which refers to an earthenware object, for example, a piece of pottery, a tile, or a potshard, and by extension, the mollusc shell, shell of a mollusc or a skull. Structure The test is a skeletal structure, made of hard material such as calcium carbonate, silica, chitin or composite materials. As such, it allows the protection of the internal organs and the attachment of soft flesh. The structure is notable for its Ambulacral, ambulacra, alternating in wide and narrow patterns. Small serrations, bumps, ridges or th ...

System Testing
System testing, a.k.a. end-to-end (E2E) testing, is testing conducted on a complete software system. System testing describes testing at the system level to contrast to testing at the system integration, integration or unit level. System testing often serves the purpose of evaluating the system's compliance with its specified requirements often from a functional requirement specification (FRS), a system requirement specification (SRS), another type of specification or multiple. System testing can detect defects in the system as a whole. System testing can verify the design, the behavior and even the believed expectations of the customer. It is also intended to test up to and beyond the bounds of specified software and hardware requirements. Approaches * Destructive testing: tests are carried out to the specimen's failure, in order to understand a specimen's performance or material behaviour under different loads. * Nondestructive testing: analysis techniques to e ...

Stress Testing
Stress testing is a form of deliberately intense or thorough testing, used to determine the stability of a given system, critical infrastructure or entity. It involves testing beyond normal operational capacity, often to a breaking point, in order to observe the results. Reasons can include: * to determine breaking points or safe usage limits * to confirm mathematical model is accurate enough in predicting breaking points or safe usage limits * to confirm intended specifications are being met * to determine Failure cause, modes of failure (how exactly a system fails) * to test stable operation of a part or system outside standard usage Reliability engineering, Reliability engineers often test items under expected stress or even under accelerated stress in order to determine the operating life of the item or to determine modes of failure.Nelson, Wayne B., (2004), ''Accelerated Testing - Statistical Models, Test Plans, and Data Analysis'', John Wiley & Sons, New York, The term "s ...
