Tesla Autopilot Hardware
Tesla Autopilot, an advanced driver-assistance system for Tesla, Inc., Tesla vehicles, uses a suite of sensors and an onboard computer. It has undergone several hardware changes and versions since 2014, most notably moving to an all-camera-based system by 2023, in contrast with ADAS from other companies, which include radar and sometimes lidar sensors. Initially, the ADAS used a combination of cameras capturing the visual spectrum, forward-facing radar, ultrasonic proximity sensors, and a Mobileye EyeQ3 computer as Hardware 1, fitted to Tesla Model S, Model S vehicles starting in October 2014. After Mobileye ended its partnership with Tesla in 2016, Tesla began shipping cars equipped with an Nvidia Nvidia Drive#Drive PX 2, Drive PX 2 computer and an increased number of cameras as Hardware 2. NVIDIA DRIVE is a computer platform by Nvidia, aimed at providing autonomous car and driver assistance functionality powered by deep learning. The platform was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2015. An enhanced version, the Drive PX 2 was introduced at CES a year later, in January 2016. The closely platform related software release program at some point in time was branded NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion along with a revision number helping to match with the generation of hardware it is created for - and also creating ready to order bundles under those term. Tesla Autopilot is an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) developed by Tesla, Inc. that provides partial vehicle automation, corresponding to Level 2 automation as defined by SAE International. All Tesla vehicles produced after April 2019 include Autopilot, which features autosteer and traffic-aware cruise control. Systolic Array
In parallel computer architectures, a systolic array is a homogeneous network of tightly coupled data processing units (DPUs) called cells or nodes. Each node or DPU independently computes a partial result as a function of the data received from its upstream neighbours, stores the result within itself and passes it downstream. Systolic arrays were first used in Colossus, which was an early computer used to break German Lorenz ciphers during World War II. Due to the classified nature of Colossus, they were independently invented or rediscovered by H. T. The ARM Cortex-A72 is a central processing unit implementing the ARMv8-A 64-bit instruction set designed by ARM Holdings' Austin design centre. Jim Keller (engineer)
James B. Keller (born 1958/1959) is an American microprocessor engineer best known for his work at AMD, Apple, and Tesla. He was the lead architect of the AMD K8 microarchitecture (including the original Athlon 64) and was involved in designing the Athlon (K7) and Apple A4/ A5 processors. He was also the coauthor of the specifications for the x86-64 instruction set and HyperTransport interconnect. From 2012 to 2015 he returned to AMD to work on the AMD K12 and Zen microarchitectures. The "14 nanometer process" refers to a marketing term for the MOSFET technology node that is the successor to the "22nm" (or "20nm") node. The "14nm" was so named by the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS). Until about 2011, the node following "22nm" was expected to be "16nm".
