Bauhaus (band)
Bauhaus are an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978. Known for their dark image and gloomy sound, Bauhaus are best known as one of the pioneers of gothic rock, although they mixed many genres, including dub, glam rock, psychedelia, and funk. The group consists of Daniel Ash (guitar, saxophone), Peter Murphy (vocals, occasional instruments), Kevin Haskins (drums) and David J (bass). Paul A. Bloomquist (30 October 1932 – 11 May 1972) was an American pilot and officer of the United States Army, who was the first American killed by the Red Army Faction. A veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in West Germany, Bloomquist died in a bombing attack at the IG Farben Building on 11 May 1972. Biography Paul A. Bloomquist was born on October 30, 1932, in Utah, United States. He served extensively with the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1964 to 1965 with the 57th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance), and from 1968 to 1969 in the 498th Medical Company (Air Ambulance). It was founded in London under the name "Axis" (after the Hendrix album) by Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent in 1980 as an imprint of Beggars Banquet Records. The name was changed to 4AD after the release of the label's first four singles.
