Teresa Miller (writer)
Teresa Miller (born November 23, 1952) is an American writer, television host, and literary activist. She resides in Tulsa, where she works as full-time writer. Early life and education Miller, a fourth generation Oklahoman, was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She attended Northeastern Oklahoma State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/journalism in 1970 and a Master of Education degree in 1975. Additionally, she did postgraduate work at the University of Tulsa. Literary Activism When Miller suffered a writer's block after the publication of her first novel, ''Remnants of Glory,'' she became active in promoting the works of other writers by establishing the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers, which she led (1994-2015) under alternate names at several Oklahoma schools before settling into its permanent home at Oklahoma State University. Rilla Askew
Rilla Askew (born 1951) is an American novelist and short story writer who was born in Poteau, in the Sans Bois Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, and grew up in the town of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Early life and education Askew graduated from the University of Tulsa with a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance in 1980. She moved then to New York where she studied acting at HB Studio with Herbert Bergoff in New York and later Curt Dempster at Ensemble Studio Theatre. She began writing—plays first, then fiction—with her theatre background supporting the use of language and rhythm in her works. She went on to study creative writing at Brooklyn College, where she received her MFA in 1989. Rilla has taught in MFA writing programs at Syracuse University, Brooklyn College, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Oklahoma State University–Tulsa, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States, is the newest institution of the Oklahoma State University System. It was previously the University Center at Tulsa until it became OSU-Tulsa on January 1, 1999. OSU-Tulsa is unique in the fact that it is not recognized as its own entity, but rather an extension of the main Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
