Terence J. Quinn
Terence John Quinn (October 16, 1836 – June 18, 1878) was an American Civil War veteran, businessman, and politician who served part of one term as a United States representative from New York from 1877 to 1878. Biography He was born in Albany, New York, where he was educated at a private school and the Boys' Academy. Early in life entered the brewery business with his father and subsequently became a senior member of the firm. Civil War At the outbreak of the American Civil War, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Company B, Twenty-fifth Regiment, New York State Militia Volunteers which was ordered to the defense of Washington, D.C. in April 1861. He was assigned to duty at Arlington Heights. Political career Quinn was a member of the common council of Albany 1869-1872. He was elected a member of the State assembly in 1873. Publius Terentius Afer (; – ), better known in English as Terence (), was a Roman African playwright during the Roman Republic. His comedies were performed for the first time around 166–160 BC. Terentius Lucanus, a Roman senator, brought Terence to Rome as a slave, educated him and later on, impressed by his abilities, freed him. It is thought that Terence abruptly died, around the age of 25, likely in Greece or on his way back to Rome, due to shipwreck or disease. His plays were heavily used to learn to speak and write in Latin during the Middle Ages and Renaissance Period, and in some instances were imitated by William Shakespeare. John Mosher Bailey (August 24, 1838 – February 21, 1916) was an American politician who represented New York in the United States House of Representatives from 1878 to 1881. Biography Bailey was born in Bethlehem, New York. He attended the public schools, and Hudson River Institute at Claverack, New York. He graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York in 1861. He married Dell L. Hooker on September 21, 1864, and they had two children, Judson Hooker Bailey, and Jennie Bailey Bradley. American Civil War
