Tequendama Falls
The Tequendama Falls () is a high waterfall of the Bogotá River, located southwest of Bogotá in the municipality of Soacha. Named after the adjacent settlement of Tequendama, it holds historical significance as one of Colombia's earliest permanent settlements. The falls were painted in 1854 by Frederic Edwin Church. One of the country's tourist attractions, the falls are located in a forested area west of Bogotá. The river surges through a rocky gorge that narrows to about at the brink of the high falls. During the month of December the falls become completely dry. The falls, once a common site for suicides, may be reached by road from Bogotá. Muisca origin In Chibcha, the name''Tequendama'' translates to: "he who precipitated downward". Soacha
Soacha is an autonomous municipality of the department of Cundinamarca in Colombia, and part of the Metropolitan Area of Bogotá. It has an important industrial zone and is home to mostly working-class families. Lake Iguaque
Lake Iguaque is a lake located in the Boyacá Department of Colombia. The lake and the surrounding area was declared a Flora and Fauna Sanctuary in 1977. Geography and climate Lake Iguaque is located northeast of Villa de Leyva and is part of the SFF Iguaque. The predominant ecosystem is the páramo, with presence of frailejón plant, ferns, lichens and puyas. The average temperature is 12 °C. Tequendama is a preceramic and ceramic archaeological site located southeast of Soacha, Cundinamarca, Colombia, a couple of kilometers east of Tequendama Falls. Tequendamita Falls
Tequendamita Falls is a small natural waterfall in Colombia located in the municipality of Retiro, Antioquia, El Retiro, in the eastern department of Antioquia. The waterfall can be found along the road between Medellín and La Ceja (Colombia), La Ceja. It is considered a cultural tourist site in Antioquia and is named after Tequendama Falls, another Colombian waterfall located in the department of Cundinamarca Department, Cundinamarca.
