Konnersreuth
Konnersreuth is a municipality in the district of Tirschenreuth in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated in the northeast foothills of the Steinwald mountains between the Fichtel Mountains and the Upper Palatinate Forest, close to the Czech border. The village is best known as the home of the 20th-century Catholic stigmatist Therese Neumann. History The historical record first mentions Konnersreuth in 1218, in a chronicle kept at Waldsassen Abbey. In 1468 the village was granted the right to hold regular markets. In 1780, the population was 954. The market rights were held by Waldsassen Abbey until about 1803, when the monastery holdings were secularized. The present municipal boundaries were set in the 1818 Bavarian administrative reforms. The coat of arms was awarded in 1468. Saint Giles
Saint Giles (, , , , ; 650 - 710), also known as Giles the Hermit, was a hermit or monk active in the lower Rhône most likely in the 7th century. Revered as a saint, his cult became widely diffused but his hagiography is mostly legendary. A town that bears his name grew up around the monastery he purportedly founded, which became a pilgrimage centre and a stop on the Way of Saint James. Mariánské Lázně (; ) is a spa town in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 14,000 inhabitants. Most of the town's buildings come from its Golden Era in the second half of the 19th century, when many celebrities and top European rulers came to enjoy the curative carbon dioxide springs. The town centre with the spa cultural landscape is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument reservation. Teplá Abbey
Teplá Abbey (; ) is a Premonstratensian abbey in Teplá in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It is included in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Prague, Archdiocese of Prague. History Teplá Abbey was founded in 1193 by the Beatification, blessed Hroznata of Ovenec, a Bohemian nobleman (d. 1217, feast July 14 on the Premonstratensians, Premonstratensian calendar). The first monks came from the Strahov Monastery in Prague. The present monastery building was erected by Abbot Raimund Wilfert II (1688-1724); the library was built by Abbot Gilbert Helmer (since 1900). The Romanesque church, with additions in the style of the transition to the Gothic, is one of the oldest churches of Bohemia. The Slavkov Forest (formerly also Emperor's Forest; , ) is a highland and geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is located in the Karlovy Vary Region. Slavkov Forest is also the name of a protected landscape area, partially located within the highland. Geomorphology Slavkov Forest is a mesoregion of the Karlovy Vary Highlands within the Bohemian Massif. It is further subdivided into the microregions of Kynžvart Highlands, Bečov Highlands and Horní Slavkov Highlands. The region is relatively poorly fragmented. Karlovy Vary
Karlovy Vary (; , formerly also spelled ''Carlsbad'' in English) is a spa town, spa city in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 49,000 inhabitants. It is located at the confluence of the Ohře and Teplá (river), Teplá rivers.
