Tennessee State Route 89
State Route 89 (SR 89) is a north-south state highway in the farmland of West Tennessee. The route is long. Route description The first few miles of SR 89 hugs the Dyer-Gibson County line. SR 89 then intersects US 45W and US 45E, in the towns of Kenton and Sharon, respectively. SR 89 enters Weakley County and crosses the Rutherford and South Forks of the Obion River between those two intersections. East of Sharon, SR 89 then turns northeastward to the Weakley County seat, Dresden, where it intersects State Routes 22, 239, 54, and 118. Further northeast, SR 89 intersects SR 190 and crosses the North Fork of the Obion River at Palmersville before reaching its northern terminus at the Kentucky state line. Graves County is a county located on the southwest border of the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 36,649. Its county seat is Mayfield. The county was formed in 1824 and was named for Major Benjamin Franklin Graves, a politician and fallen soldier in the War of 1812. Graves County comprises the Mayfield, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Paducah-Mayfield, KY- IL Combined Statistical Area. Graves County is a "limited" dry county, meaning that sale of alcohol in the county is prohibited except for wine and beer in restaurants. In 2016, the county voted on whether to become a "wet" county but that attempt failed. Later in the year, a ballot measure was proposed and passed within the city limits of Mayfield (the county seat) to allow alcohol sales in stores and gas stations. State Route 118 (SR 118) is 14.81 mile long north–south state highway in Weakley County, Tennessee. It connects the town of Dresden with the communities of Latham, Dukedom, and the state of Kentucky. Route description SR 118 begins in downtown Dresden at an intersection with SR 54/ SR 89 (Main Street), directly beside the Weakley County Courthouse. It goes north as N Wilson Street past homes and businesses before leaving Dresden and continuing north through a mix of farmland and wooded areas. The highway then passes through Latham, where it has an intersection and short concurrency with SR 190 and crosses the North Fork of the Obion River. State Route 54 (SR 54) is a west–east rural highway in West Tennessee, which runs from Covington to just north of Paris. Route description Covington to Alamo SR 54 begins in downtown Covington in Tipton County at an intersection with US 51/ SR 3. It then goes to a junction with SR 384. Shortly afterwards, it has a junction with SR 179. SR 54 then exits Covington and continues to the east, passing through Glenn and having an intersection with SR 14, which is its northern terminus. SR 54 then continues east and crosses into Haywood County. It then enters Brownsville and intersects SR 19, just a short distance away from its junction with US 70.
