State Route 247 (SR 247) is a long east-west state highway in Maury and Williamson counties of Middle Tennessee. Route description SR 247 begins in Maury County at an intersection with SR 50 in Williamsport. It heads east through rural farmland and slightly hilly terrain, running parallel to the Duck River, to Santa Fe, where it has a short concurrency with SR 7. The highway leaves the river and passes northeast through mountains for several miles to pass through Theta before reentering farmland and having over a long concurrency with SR 246 just south of Burwood. SR 247 the enters Spring Hill and passes along the northern edge of Spring Hill Manufacturing before passing through downtown, where it has an extremely short concurrency with US 31/ SR 6. It then crosses into Williamson County and passes through subdivisions before leaving Spring Hill and crossing over I-65 without an interchange. State Route 7 (SR 7) is a south–north state highway in Middle Tennessee, running from the Alabama state line in Lincoln County to SR 100/ SR 46 in Hickman County. Route description Alabama state line to Columbia SR 7 begins concurrent with Alabama State Route 53 at Lewter Chapel Drive on the Alabama-Tennessee state line in Lincoln County as a secondary highway. They then go west and intersect SR 110 before separating from (AL) SR 53, entering Giles Gounty and Ardmore, Tennessee, and continuing west to an interchange with I-65. At this interchange, SR 7 becomes the unsigned companion route of US 31. US 31/SR 7 then leave Ardmore and go north to Elkton and have a short concurrency with SR 273. Spring Hill Manufacturing is a General Motors factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The plant currently includes vehicle assembly ( Cadillac Lyriq, Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, and GMC Acadia) as well as powertrain, stamping and molding operations. The plant originally operated as the sole manufacturing facility for Saturn Corporation. History On January 7, 1985, Saturn Corporation was formed as a subsidiary of General Motors to compete with Japanese imports, and shortly thereafter, began searching for a site for a manufacturing facility. Then-governor Lamar Alexander began encouraging GM to locate the plant in Tennessee. The site in Spring Hill was officially announced on July 26, 1985. At the time, Spring Hill was a predominantly agricultural community with a population of about 1,000.
