Temístocles Montás
Juan Temístocles Montás Domínguez (born May 6, 1950) is a Dominican politician, economist and former Minister of Industry and Trade of the Dominican Republic. He previously served as Minister of Economy, Planning and Development and Technical Secretary of State to the Presidency of the Dominican Republic from 1998 to 2016. Between October 28, 2019 and March 7, 2021, he was the President of the Dominican Liberation Party. He's a member of the Dominican Liberation Party in which has a long time political affiliation and broad political career. Born in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, in a family with 10 children. Montás, holds a Ph.D. in engineering from the Technical University of Madrid and also a master's degree in Economics. With broad public and professional career, is a government official with long experience. The Dominican Liberation Party (Spanish: Partido de la Liberación Dominicana, referred to here by its Spanish acronym, the PLD) is a political party in the Dominican Republic. The Congress of the Dominican Republic () is the bicameral legislature of the government of the Dominican Republic, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Both senators and deputies are chosen through direct election. There are no term limits for either chamber. As provided by the Dominican Constitution, each of the 178 members of the Chamber of Deputies represents a district and serves a four-year term.
