Temple Mount Administration
The self-proclaimed "Temple Mount Administration" (Hebrew: מינהלת הר הבית, ''Minhelet Har-HaBait'') is a far-right activist group led by Israeli rabbi Shimshon Elboin whose aim is to change the centuries-old "status quo" that provides that Jews can pray at the Western Wall and can visit – but not pray at – the Temple Mount, the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, in East Jerusalem's Old City. In spite of its name, the group does not administer nor hold any powers over the Temple Mount, whose administration is the responsibility of the Jordanian-appointed Jerusalem Waqf, whereas the Israeli Police controls access to the site. The activist group's final objective is the construction of the Jewish Third Temple over the place where the Islamic Dome of the Rock now stands. Itamar Ben-Gvir ( he, אִיתָמָר בֶּן גְּבִיר; born 6 May 1976) is an Israeli lawyer and politician, who serves as the Minister of National Security. He is additionally a member of the Knesset and leader of Otzma Yehudit. He has been described as far-right. Otzma Yehudit ( he, עָצְמָה יְהוּדִית, , Jewish Strength', or 'Jewish Power) is a far-right political party in Israel, which has been referred to as Kahanist and anti-Arab. It was originally formed as Otzma LeYisrael (; lit., ''Strength for Israel''), which was established on 13 November 2012 by MKs Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari, who split from the National Union to form a new party ahead of the 2013 elections. The Dome of the Rock ( ar, قبة الصخرة, Qubbat aṣ-Ṣakhra) is an Islamic shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem, a site also known to Muslims as the ''al-Haram al-Sharif'' or the Al-Aqsa Compound.
