Television In Cyprus
Television in Cyprus was introduced in 1956. In 1957, CyBC was created. Private TV was introduced on 26 April 1992, by ''Logos TV'' which started its transmissions in stereo and Teletext from day one. The first private TV station of Cyprus was owned and operated by the Church of Cyprus. In August 1995, the same station introduced the first internet service provider in Cyprus, LOGOSNET. The Republic of Cyprus currently uses the PAL colour system and has converted terrestrial transmissions to digital on 1 July 2011, in line with EU policy. Because of the political division of the island, television companies are also divided. Republic of Cyprus Terrestrial digital transmission is now available in Cyprus (parallel analogue transmissions ended finally on 1 July 2011). Latsia
Latsia ( el, Λατσιά []; tr, Laçça, a village on the south east outskirts of Nicosia, Cyprus, is today one of the city's largest suburbs. It hosts the new Nicosia General Hospital, the new GSP Stadium and the Mall of Cyprus. British Forces Broadcasting Service
The British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) provides radio and television programmes for His Majesty's Armed Forces, and their dependents worldwide. Editorial control is independent of the Ministry of Defence and the armed forces themselves. It was established by the British War Office (now the Ministry of Defence) in 1943. In 1944, it was managed by Gale Pedrick. Engomi
Engomi ( el, Έγκωμη tr, Engomi or Enkomi) is a suburb and municipality of the Cypriot capital Nicosia. In 2011, it had a population of 18,010. Of these, 14,254 were citizens of Cyprus. Omega TV is a free to air terrestrial TV channel. It is the first private television channel established in Cyprus.
