Telenești
Telenești () is a city in Moldova, located 91 kilometres to the north of the capital city, Chișinău. Telenești is the administrative center of the eponymous district. Three villages are administered by the city: Mihălașa, Mihălașa Nouă and Izvoraș. As of 2004, it had a population of 6,855, 89 percent of whom were Moldovan. Telenești District
Telenești () is a district ( ro, raion) in central Moldova, with the administrative center at Telenești. History The oldest recorded settlements of the district are: Banești, Peciste and Telenești, mentioned in 1437. At the time, the landowners had the right to sell their estate, in parts or entirely. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the region's economy developed (trade, agriculture, winery), resulting in a significant increase in population. In 1812, after the Treaty of Bucharest, Bessarabia was occupied by the Russian Empire, and an intense process of russification of the native population followed. In 1918, as a result of the fall of the Russian Empire, Bessarabia was united with Romania, and the Romanian government enacted a land reform. Angel Agache (born 13 August 1976) is a Moldovan politician, deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in the LDPM faction, member of the "Legal Commission, Appointments and Immunities". Biography Angel Agache was born on 13 August 1976 in the Telenești, Moldavian SSR, Soviet Union (now in the Republic of Moldova). In 1983-1993 he studied at the general school in Negureni, Telenești. In 1993, he began his studies at the Cooperatist-Trade University of Moldova, with specialization in Marketing. Orhei County (Romania)
Orhei was a county ( Romanian: ''județ'') in the Kingdom of Romania between 1925 and 1938, and again between 1941 and 1944, with the seat at Orhei. Geography The county was located in the northeastern part of the Greater Romania, in the eastern part of the historical region of Bessarabia, at the border with the Soviet Union. At present, its territory is part of the Republic of Moldova. It is bordered to the northwest by the counties of Soroca and Bălți, to the northeast and the east by the Soviet Union and to the south by Lăpușna County. Nicoleta Dara
Nicoleta Dara (born Nicoleta Darabană, on 22 May 1993 in Telenești), commonly known as Dara, is a Moldovan pop singer. She is well known for singing in preselection for Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest in March 2012, where she sang her single "Open Your Eyes". She released her album ''Unsorted'' in 2011. The album was not a success, unlike her two previous singles. In late 2012, her fourth official single titled "Chains" was released via YouTube. Biography Nicoleta Dara was born in 1993 in Moldova. She has been singing since she was three years old. At the age of 7, Dara auditioned for the Romanian song contest ''Ti Amo''. In her teen years she recorded music with Anatol Roscovan. She attended the National College of Commerce and while there learned to play piano and guitar. Nachum Gutman (as he himself signed; alternate romanisation: Nahum Gutman; he, נחום גוטמן: October 5, 1898 – November 28, 1980) was a Moldovan-born Israeli painter, sculptor, and author. Biography Nachum Gutman was born in Teleneşti, Bessarabia Governorate, then a part of the Russian Empire (now in the Republic of Moldova). He was the fourth child of Sim a Alter and Rivka Gutman. His father was a Hebrew writer and educator who wrote under the pen name S. Ben Zion. In 1903, the family moved to Odessa, and two years later, to Ottoman Palestine. In 1908, Gutman attended the Herzliya Gymnasium in what would later become Tel Aviv. In 1912, he studied at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem. In 1920–26, he studied art in Vienna, Berlin and Paris. Gutman was married to Dora, with whom he had a son. Ținutul Nistru
Ținutul Nistru was one of the ten ''ținuturi'' ("lands") of Romania, founded in 1938 after King Carol II initiated an institutional reform by modifying the 1923 Constitution and the law of territorial administration. It comprised most of Bessarabia (including parts of the Budjak), and its name was derived from the Dniester River. Its capital was the city of Chișinău.
