Teesville is an area in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. It is part of Greater Eston, which includes the area and the settlements of Eston, Normanby, South Bank, Teesville and part of Ormesby. Demographics A ward covering the area had a population of 6,517 at the 2011 census. Gillbrook Academy
Gillbrook Academy (formerly ''Gillbrook College'') was a mixed academy and sixth form in Teesville, Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire. It merged with neighbouring Eston Park Academy in September 2014 and now forms part of a new single Hillsview Academy. Location The academy was to the south of Eston Sports Academy on Normanby Road just off the trunk road ( A1085) intersection, in the Anglican parish of Christ Church, with both Eston Park Academy, whose playing fields were adjoined, and Redcar & Cleveland Council Town Hall nearby. Grangetown is an area in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The area is east of Middlesbrough and south-west of Redcar. It is part of Greater Eston, which includes the area and the other centres of Eston, Normanby, Redcar and Cleveland, Normanby, South Bank, Middlesbrough, South Bank, Teesville and part of Ormesby. History Grangetown's development was a result of the discovery of Ironstone mining in Cleveland and North Yorkshire, ironstone in the nearby Eston Nab, Eston Hills, in 1840. Eston Park School
Eston Park Academy (formerly ''Eston Park School'') was a mixed academy and sixth form in Teesville, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It merged with neighbouring Gillbrook Academy in September 2014 and now forms part of a new single Hillsview Academy. The new merged academy is run by the Academies Enterprise Trust (as were the two former schools). It had five houses: Durham, Lincoln, Ripon, York and Normanby (the house for the Sixth Form). History Sarah Metcalfe Comprehensive School on Burns Road, a former secondary modern school, and Stapleton secondary school merged in 1991 and became Eston Park School. On 31 January 2018, a large fire occurred, which is believed to have started in the Lincoln house area. No injuries were reported as the school had been closed since 2014. Eston Urban District
Greater Eston is an urbanised area in the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. The name of Greater Eston is a concept devised by town planners from Redcar and Cleveland Council. It cannot be found on any maps, nor does it leave a trail of evidence in history. The idea of Greater Eston is one of unifying an area with separate, if sometimes merging, or crumbling, identities. This is an urban regeneration project and is still mostly on the drawing board. It has elements which include The Great Street, The Great Park, an Urban Village and so on. It will constitute the areas of Eston, Grangetown, Normanby, Ormesby, South Bank and Teesville. Eston Town Hall
Redcar and Cleveland Town Hall, formerly Eston Town Hall, was a municipal building in the Teesville area of Eston, in North Yorkshire, England. The building, which was the headquarters of Redcar and Cleveland District Council, was demolished in 2012. History Following significant population growth, largely associated with the mining industry, a local board of health was appointed in Eston in 1884. The local board established offices on Whitworth Road in 1886. The board was succeeded by Eston Urban District Council in 1895 and the new council continued to use the offices on Whitworth Road. After amalgamation with Normanby Urban District Council in 1915, the enlarged Eston Urban District Council moved to Cleveland House on Eston Road in 1920. Thorntree
Thorntree is a housing estate in east Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The former Thorntree Ward's population was 6,290, at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census. Since 2015, the estate shares a ward with Brambles Farm. The housing estate was built in the late 1940s, in the lands of the former Thorntree Farm, after people started to move away from the terraced housing of Middlesbrough town centre and North Ormesby. It has a public park called Thorntree Park. The main roads of the estate are College Road and The Greenway. Redcar And Cleveland
Redcar and Cleveland is a unitary authority area with borough status in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. Its council has been a unitary authority since 1996. The borough was created in 1974 as Langbaurgh, and was one of four boroughs in the non-metropolitan county of Cleveland. Outwood Academy Normanby
Outwood Academy Normanby (formerly Hillsview Academy) is a secondary school with Academy (English school), academy status, located in the Teesville suburb of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It has a mixed intake of boys and girls ages 11–16, with 766 pupils on roll as of 2025. The school is operated by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and the current principal is Dr Mark Robinson. History The school was established as Hillsview Academy on 1 September 2014, through the merger of Eston Park Academy, Eston Park and Gillbrook Academy, Gillbrook academies on the Gillbrook site. Although Gillbrook supported the merger, Eston Park opposed it with the proposal prompting parental protests. Both the predecessor schools had been rated as inadequate by Ofsted.
