''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' is a comic book published by Dreamwave Productions in 2003. The first four stories are based on episodes of the 2003 ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' television series, but told from the view of supporting characters, before the creation of new stories, just as the original issues of ''TMNT Adventures'' followed the 1987 TV series before developing new stories. The series ran for seven issues before it was cancelled as Dreamwave went out of business. Best known for its comic book adaptations of ''Transformers (toy line), Transformers'', the company shut down on January 4, 2005. Leonardo, commonly nicknamed Leo, is a superhero appearing in ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' comics and related media, and created by American comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. He is one of the four central characters of the franchise, along with his brothers, Donatello (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Donatello, Raphael (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Raphael, and Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Michelangelo. Leonardo is often depicted as the leader and strategist of the turtles. Donatello, nicknamed Donnie, is a superhero and one of the four main characters of the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' comics and all related media. He is the smartest and often gentlest of his brothers, wearing a purple mask over his eyes. He wields a bō staff, his primary signature weapon in all media.
