Teenage Dads
Teenage Dads are an Australian indie rock band formed in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria in 2015. The group consists of Jordan Finlay (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Connor McLaughlin (guitar), Vincent Kinna (drums) and Angus Christie (bass guitar). Since 2021, they have been signed to Chugg. The band has released one studio album, ''Potpourri Lake'' (2018), and four EPs, most recently ''Midnight Driving'' (2023), which debuted at number 28 on the ARIA Charts. At the 2023 ARIA Awards, Teenage Dads won the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist Award. History Teenage Dads was formed by self-taught musicians Jordan Finlay and Connor McLaughlin in Mount Eliza, Victoria in 2015, with Angus Christie and Vincent Kinna joining the band later. ''Midnight Driving'' is the fourth extended play by Australian indie rock group Teenage Dads, released on 3 March 2023 through Chugg. It peaked at number 28 on the ARIA Charts, and won the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist Award for the band at the ARIA Awards of 2023. Mornington Peninsula
The Mornington Peninsula is a peninsula located south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is surrounded by Port Phillip to the west, Western Port to the east and Bass Strait to the south, and is connected to the mainland in the north. Geographically, the peninsula begins its protrusion from the mainland in the area between Pearcedale and an area north of Frankston. The area was originally home to the ''Mayone-bulluk'' and ''Boonwurrung-Balluk'' clans and formed part of the Boonwurrung nation's territory prior to European settlement. ''Like a Version'' is a weekly segment on Australian youth radio station Triple J. It involves Australian and international artists playing two songs live in the Triple J studio, one of their own songs (an "original") and then a cover version, hence the name of the segment. The title is wordplay on the Madonna song " Like a Virgin". It was created by Mel Bampton as part of the ''Mel in the Morning'' program. The segment was later moved to Robbie Buck's Drive program, and then to the Breakfast Show. Due to the intimate nature of the studio, the performance is often acoustic or otherwise stripped-back, however some bands have stretched this concept. The segment has grown in popularity over the years, leading to the release of compilation CDs featuring the best covers. Some particularly well-received covers have also made it into the Triple J Hottest 100.
