Ted Sadler
Edward Sadler (8 May 1910 – 26 December 1992) was an English List of dual-code rugby internationals, dual-code international rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for England national rugby union team, England, and whilst serving with the Royal Corps of Signals for the Army Rugby Union, and representative level rugby league (RL) for England national rugby league team, England, and at club level for Oldham R.L.F.C., Oldham (List of Oldham R.L.F.C. players, Heritage № 296) and Castleford Tigers, Castleford (List of Castleford Tigers players, Heritage № 134). Colchester

1934–35 Northern Rugby Football League Season
The 1934–35 Rugby Football League season was the 40th season of rugby league football. A single league Championship was contested by twenty eight teams. The Challenge Cup was contested for the 35th time and the first European Championship took place between England, France and Wales. Season summary Swinton won their third Championship beating Warrington 14–3 in the play-off final after ending the regular season as the league leaders. The Challenge Cup winners were Castleford who defeated Huddersfield 11–8 in the final. London Highfield returned north and changed their name to Liverpool Stanley. Bradford Northern move into their new Odsal Stadium. The first match there on 1 September 1934 ended in a loss to Huddersfield. Salford won the Lancashire League, and Leeds won the Yorkshire League. Challenge Cup
The Challenge Cup is a knockout rugby league cup competition organised by the Rugby Football League, held annually since 1896, with the exception of 1915–1919 and 1939–1940, due to World War I and World War II respectively. It involves amateur, semi-professional and professional clubs. The final of the Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium, London, is one of the most prestigious matches in world rugby league and is broadcast around the world. Huddersfield Giants
Huddersfield Giants are an English professional rugby league club from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the birthplace of rugby league, who play in the Super League competition. They play their home games at the John Smiths Stadium which is shared with Huddersfield Town F.C. Huddersfield is also one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, making them one of the world's first rugby league teams. The club itself was founded in 1864, making it the oldest rugby league club in the world. The 1938–39 Rugby Football League season was the 44th season of rugby league football. Season summary Salford won their fourth Championship when they defeated Castleford 8–6 in the play-off final. Rugby League County Leagues
The Yorkshire League and the Lancashire League formed two sections of the Rugby Football League Championship for much of its history. Initially, the 22 clubs that broke away in 1895 played in one combined league; however, the following season saw the addition of many clubs, and the League was split into two separate county competitions. History This situation endured until 1901-02, when the top teams in each league resigned and formed a new combined first division. The following season, the remaining clubs formed a second division. From then until 1907, when there was another re-organisation, the county leagues were not played. Cap (sport)
In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. Stade Pershing
Stade Pershing () was a multi-purpose stadium in the Bois de Vincennes in Paris, France. It was used mostly for football matches and hosted the final of the Coupe de France on four occasions. It hosted the Inter-Allied Games in 1919 and the first Women's World Games in 1922. It also hosted some of the football matches during the 1924 Summer Olympics. The stadium was able to hold 29,000 spectators at its height; it opened in 1919 and closed in 1960. Its area currently hosts baseball games. Construction of the stadium was originally contracted to a French firm. However, labour disputes stopped all work. At this time, the engineers of the United States Army intervened and completed construction.
