Ted Oakes
Ted Oakes is a Canadian-born filmmaker and biologist who worked at the BBC Natural History Unit for 20 years. He founded Oak Island Films in 2017 and has been managing director since. He has collaborated with BBC, TVO, Smithsonian Channel, Discovery Channel and Merit Motion Pictures. BBC Studios Natural History Unit
The BBC Studios Natural History Unit (NHU) is a department of BBC Studios that produces television, radio and online content with a natural history or wildlife theme. It is best known for its highly regarded nature documentaries, including ''The Blue Planet'' and ''Planet Earth'', and has a long association with David Attenborough's authored documentaries, starting with 1979's '' Life on Earth''. The Natural History Unit is a specialist department within BBC Studios Productions. The Royal Television Society (RTS) is a British-based educational charity for the discussion, and analysis of television in all its forms, past, present, and future. It is the oldest television society in the world. It currently has fourteen regional and national centres in the UK, as well as a branch in the Republic of Ireland. Wildlife Biologists
A wildlife biologist studies animals and their behavior along with the role each animal plays in its natural habitat. The duties of a wildlife biologist can include: developing and conducting experiments/studies on animals in their natural habitats, studying the characteristics of animals such as their interaction with different species, their reproductive and movement patterns, the dynamic within a population, and the transmission of diseases. Wildlife biologists can also play important roles in managing and monitoring population dynamics to preserve certain species and/or environments. Ocean Wise
The Vancouver Aquarium is a public aquarium located in Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In addition to being a major tourist attraction for Vancouver, the aquarium is a centre for marine research, ocean literacy education, climate activism, conservation and marine animal rehabilitation. The Vancouver Aquarium was one of the first facilities to incorporate professional naturalists into the galleries to interpret animal behaviours. The Royal Television Academy Craft & Design Awards, often referred to as RTS Craft & Design Awards, are given annually by the Royal Television Society to recognize the "huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production". Gordon John Buchanan (born 10 April 1972) is a Scottish wildlife filmmaker and presenter. His work includes the nature documentaries '' Tribes, Predators & Me'', '' The Polar Bear Family & Me'' and ''Life in the Snow''. Early life Buchanan was born in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on 10 April 1972 and brought up on the Isle of Mull. As a child, Buchanan was a fan of David Attenborough's television programmes and ''Survival'', a nature programme.
