Karen Kafadar
Karen Kafadar is an American statistician. She is Commonwealth Professor of Statistics at the University of Virginia, and chair of the statistics department there. She was editor-in-chief of ''Technometrics'' from 1999 to 2001, and was president of the International Association for Statistical Computing for 2011–2013. In 2017 she was elected president of the American Statistical Association for the 2019 term. Education and career Kafadar earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in statistics from Stanford University, both in 1975. She completed her PhD in statistics from Princeton University in 1979 under the supervision of John Tukey; her dissertation was ''Robust Confidence Intervals for the One- and Two- Sample Problem''. The American Society for Quality (ASQ), formerly the American Society for Quality Control (ASQC), is a society of quality professionals, with more than 30,000 members, in more than 140 countries. History ASQC was established on 16 February 1946 by 253 members in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with George D. Edwards as its first president. The organization was first created as a way for quality experts and manufacturers to sustain quality-improvement techniques used during World War II. Vijayan Nair
Vijayan (Vijay) N. Nair is currently Head of the Statistical Learning and Advanced Computing Group in Corporate Model Risk at Wells Fargo. He was Donald A. Darling Collegiate Professor of Statistics and Professor of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor from 1993 to 2017. He served as Chair of the Statistics Department at Michigan from 1998 to 2010 (sabbatical in 2003–04). Vijay was instrumental in launching the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) and was recognized as a Distinguished Scientist by MIDAS. Prior to joining Michigan, he spent 15 years as a research scientist in the Mathematical Sciences Research Center at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey.
