Technisonic Studios
Technisonic Studios was a production company in St Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1929, it was the largest and oldest production facility in St. Louis, used to shoot feature films and television commercials. It contained a recording studio where Ike & Tina Turner cut their first track in 1960, and Chuck Berry recorded there in the 1960s and 1970s. History Founded in 1929 by Charles E. "Bud" Harrison as an audio laboratory, Technisonic was originally located in the Central Institute for the Deaf building in mid-town St. Louis. In the early 1940s, it relocated to 1201 S. Brentwood Blvd. in Richmond Heights, MO. Following a series of acquisitions and a brief closure, the Brentwood Blvd. property was sold to a mall developer and Technisonic was moved in 1990 to 500 S. Henry "Mule" Townsend (born Henry Jesse James Townsend; October 27, 1909 – September 24, 2006) was an American blues singer, guitarist and pianist. Career Townsend was born Henry Jesse James Townsend in Shelby, Mississippi to Allen and Omelia Townsend. His father was a blues musician who played guitar and accordion. When Henry was young, his family moved near Cairo, Illinois. Henry left home at the age of nine because of his abusive father and hoboed his way to St. Louis, Missouri. He learned guitar while in his early teens from a locally renowned blues guitarist known as Dudlow Joe. With aspirations to earn a living with his guitar, Townsend also worked as an auto mechanic, a shoe shiner, a hotel manager, and a salesman. ''Medicine Music'' is the third studio album by Bobby McFerrin, released in 1990. The album reached number 146 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and number 2 on the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. The album was nominated for a 1991 Grammy Award, in the "Best Contemporary Jazz Performance" category. Production Voicestra, a 10-member a capella group formed by McFerrin, and Robert McFerrin, Bobby's father, appear on the album. High Inergy was an American R&B and soul girl group who found fame on Motown Records in the late 1970s. They are best known for the hit song, " You Can't Turn Me Off (In the Middle of Turning Me On)". History High Inergy started in 1976 when the four founding singers were discovered by Gwen Gordy Fuqua during a Bicentennial show in Pasadena, California. The members of the group included lead singer Vernessa Mitchell, her sister Barbara Mitchell, Linda Howard and Michelle Martin (or Rumph). The Mitchell sisters were singers, while the remaining members were known primarily for their dancing.
