The Nuovo Teatro Giuseppe Verdi is a theatre in Brindisi, Italy, which opened on December 20, 2006. Stefano Miceli became chairman of the theatre foundation in 2022. Structure The theatre, 1172 seats, is located in the city center of Brindisi, and has a surface area of 4500 square meters, and a volume of 40 thousand cubic meters. Along the bottom of the main hall (738 seats) are two tunnels (respectively 351 and 83 admissions). The total capacity is 1172 seats. The stage is one of the largest in Italy, being 25.50 m wide, 18 m high and 20 m deep. Teatro Giuseppe Verdi (the Giuseppe Verdi Theatre) is a small opera house located in a wing of the Rocca dei Marchesi Pallavicino on the Piazza Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto, Italy, a town closely associated with the life of the opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi. From the 13th century, the “rocca” or “fortress” was the family's palace; it is now the city hall after being acquired by the municipality in 1856. The theatre opened on 15 August 1868 and seats 300. Prior to 1856, a theatre existed in the same location, and while plans to build a new one were begun in 1845, nothing happened until the municipality took over. Designed by Pier Luigi Montecchini, the theatre is located on an upper level of the City Hall and is reached by a large staircase. Outside the theatre is a bust of Verdi by Giovanni Dupré. Achille Sfondrini (1836 –1900) was an Italian architect specializing in the design, construction and modernization of theaters. He was born and died in Milan. He completed his university studies in Milan, graduating as an architectural engineer. In 1862, he designed a project for the economic of development of the , and was awarded first prize and a gold medal by the Provincial Commission of Milan.
