Team Novo Nordisk () is an all-diabetic professional cycling team founded by CEO Phil Southerland and led by general manager Vassili Davidenko. It is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The team's principal sponsor is the Danish global healthcare company, Novo Nordisk. The team is also sponsored by the Canadian bicycle manufacturer Argon18. Pro Cycling Team Team Novo Nordisk is the first professional cycling team to be comprised completely of riders who have type 1 diabetes. All riders and several of the team's staff, including CEO and Co-founder Phil Southerland, are living with diabetes. The Race Across America, or RAAM, is an ultra-distance road cycling race held across the United States that started in 1982 as the Great American Bike Race. RAAM is one of the longest annual endurance events in the world. All entrants must prove their abilities by competing in any of several qualifying events, completing a course within a specified time period. RAAM is sometimes compared to the Tour de France, but the two races are fundamentally different. The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey () is a professional road bicycle racing stage race held annually in Turkey since 1963. In 2005 the race became part of the UCI Europe Tour, rated as a 2.2 event, before being upgraded to 2.1 in 2008, and then to 2.HC for the 2010 edition. Alexander Alexandrovich Efimkin (; born 2 December 1981 in Kuybyshev) is a Russian former professional road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2006 and 2012 for the , , and teams. Efimkin has also worked as the directeur sportif of the team in 2013, the RusVelo Women's Team in 2013 and the men's team in 2014 and 2015. The twin brother of Vladimir Efimkin, Alexander Efimkin burst on to the professional cycling scene in 2005 with a 2nd place overall at the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda, a highly competitive race. Since that time he has proven a competent professional racer, with few victories to his name. Rubens Bertogliati (born 9 May 1979 in Lugano) is a Swiss retired road racing cyclist, whose breakthrough came in the 2002 Tour de France, when he was riding for the Italian team. In 2012, he rode for , and ended his career at the end of the season. Bertogliati won the first stage of the Tour, which took place in the hilly country of Luxembourg. The victory also earned him the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification. He kept the jersey after stage two, when he finished in 29th position. After the third stage, German sprinter Erik Zabel took the leader's yellow jersey from Bertogliati. Bertogliati's first win came a few months earlier at the GP Chiasso, but it was his efforts in July that made him famous. He started his career as a professional with the team in 2000. The general classification of the Tour de France is the most important classification of the race and determines the winner of the race. Since 1919, the leader of the general classification has worn the yellow jersey ( ).
