Team Brazil (roller Derby)
Roller Derby Brasil (Team Brasil) represents Brazil in women's international roller derby, such as at the Roller Derby World Cup. Team Brasil is composed of roller derby players from Brazil, who are selected in tryouts to compete at the national level. Team Brasil is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, run by the Brazilian skaters. First formed in 2011, Team Brasil first competed at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, held in Toronto, Canada. The team's skaters, who ordinarily compete using derby names, chose to use single names at the 2011 World Cup, following in the tradition of Brazilian players in many sports, most notably soccer, which is arguably the biggest sport in Brazil. The 2011 placed #11 of 12 teams. In the 2014 World Cup, Team Brasil qualified for the second round of the tournament and placed #14 of 30 teams. 2011 Roller Derby World Cup
The 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was an international women's roller derby tournament organized by ''Blood & Thunder'' magazine. Teams of amateur skaters from around the world were fielded to compete for their respective nations. The inaugural 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted by Toronto Roller Derby, and was held December 1 through 4, 2011, at The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was won by Team USA, who beat Team Canada by a score of 336 points to 33 in the final. Live online coverage of the entire event was broadcast on the Derby News Network. Boston Roller Derby, (BRD), is a flat-track roller derby league based in Boston, Massachusetts. The league was founded as Boston Derby Dames in May 2005, and is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league's all-star team, the Boston Massacre, was one of the top 25 WFTDA Division 1 teams in the world through most of the duration of the divisional ranking system introduced in early 2013, and as of December 31, 2015, the Massacre was ranked at 21. Ottawa Valley Roller Derby (OVRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The league was created from a merger in 2018 between two local leagues that had been formed in 2008: Rideau Valley Roller Derby and Capital City Derby Dolls. Philly Roller Derby (PRD) is a women's flat-track roller derby league based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2005, Philly Roller Derby is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The L. A. Derby Dolls (LADD) is Los Angeles' original women's quad-skate banked track roller derby league. It was founded in October 2003 by Rebecca Ninburg (a.k.a.
