Taşucu
Taşucu is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Silifke, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 15,184 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). It had obtained the status of ''belde'' after the local elections in Turkey, 1955. In 2000 a military pier, Agalar, was built south-west of the town. During the Syrian Civil War the pier was used to ship weapons to Syrian rebel groups as part of the U.S. Timber Sycamore program. Transportation Taşucu is the main ferry terminal to Kyrenia (Girne), the main port of Northern Cyprus. Arslan Eyce Private Amphora Museum
Arslan Eyce Private Amphora Museum, also known as Taşucu Amphora Museum, () is a maritime archaeology museum dedicated to amphora in Taşucu, Southern Turkey. Location Taşucu, known as Holmi in the antiquity, at is a seaside town in Silifke İlçe (district) of Mersin Province. Formerly, it was an important port. The museum is located in a 19th-century building on the İsmet İnönü Boulevard, which was originally a storage building. Ownership The building now is a property of the museum foundation. Arslan Eyce, a citizen of Silifke, spent 40 years in collecting ancient amphorae mostly from shipwrecks. Gulf Of Mersin
Gulf of Mersin () is one of the widest gulfs in Turkey. It is in the northeast of the Mediterranean Sea between the gulfs of İskenderun and Antalya. Timber Sycamore was a classified weapons supply and training program run by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and supported by the United Kingdom and some Arabs, Arab intelligence services, including General Intelligence Presidency, Saudi intelligence. The aim of the program was to remove Syrian president Bashar al-Assad from power. Launched in 2012 or 2013, it supplied money, weaponry and training to Syrian opposition groups fighting Syrian government forces in the Syrian civil war, Syrian Civil War. Aydıncık is a municipality and district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 352 km2, and its population is 11,468 (2022). It is on the Mediterranean coast, from Mersin and from Antalya.
