Taşhan, Mut
Taşhan is a historical caravanserai in Mersin Province, Turkey. It is situated in Mut, Mersin, Mut ilçe (district) of Mersin Province to the south of Mut Castle at . The caravanserai was constructed in 1723-1725 by an Ottoman Empire, Ottoman mutasarrıf (governor) named Hacı Sunullah Pasha. It is a rectangular-plan caravanserai. After the period of Convoy, caravans the caravanserai was used as a local bazaar. But for the last 30 years, it was out of commission. In 2020 Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and Arslan family (the owner of building) decided to open the bazaar as a ''Producer Women’s market''. The opening ceremony was held on 26 September 2020. Mersin metropolitan mayor Vahap Seçer as well as Mut mayor Volkan Şeker and the owner of the building were present in the ceremony. The honoured quest was folk musician Musa Eroğlu. A caravanserai (or caravansary; ) was an inn that provided lodging for travelers, merchants, and Caravan (travellers), caravans. They were present throughout much of the Islamic world. Musa Eroğlu
Musa Eroğlu (born 1946) is a Turkish folk musician and bağlama virtuoso. He was born in the Mut county district of Mersin. He is a Tahtacı. He completed his secondary education in Mut. He then started to perform Turkish folk dance and music. In 1965, he participated in Ankara Radio's exam but did not pass. In 1969, he released his first record "İkimiz Toprağa Girelim Elif". Together with his wife whom he married in 1966, they have two daughters and one son. Bazaars In Turkey
A bazaar or souk is a marketplace consisting of multiple small stalls or shops, especially in the Middle East, the Balkans, Central Asia, North Africa and South Asia. Mut District
Mut is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 2,718 km2, and its population is 62,874 (2022). Mut is a rural district at the foot of the Sertavul Pass on the road over the Taurus Mountains from Ankara and Konya to the Mediterranean coast at Anamur or Silifke. Mut is known for its special apricot variety, ''Mut şekerparesi'', and a statue of a girl carrying a basket of them stands at the entrance to the town.
