Tayseer Barakat
Tayseer Barakat (; born 1959) is a Palestinian painter, curator, and writer. He also owns a gallery–cafe in Ramallah, where he lives. Barakat was one of the founding members of the League of Palestinian Artists in 1973, and the New Vision art group and movement in 1987. Early life and education Tayseer Barakat was born in 1959, in the Jabalia refugee camp near Jabalia in the Gaza Strip. His family was from al-Majdal, a village in the Lower Galilee region. As a young adult he moved to the West Bank. Barakat graduated with a B.A. degree from at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University (formerly Helwan University, Alexandria), he attended from 1978 to 1983. Jabalia Refugee Camp
Jabalia Camp () is a Palestinian refugee camp in the North Gaza Governorate of the Gaza Strip, north of Jabalia. It is the largest refugee camp in Palestine, with more than 100,000 inhabitants. The camp only covers an area of 1.4 km2 making it one of the most densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip. The camp was established in 1948 by the United Nations to house those displaced by the 1948 Palestinian expulsion. Originally composed of tents and other temporary structures, over time the population grew and the camp developed into a densely populated urban area with multi-story buildings. Since the Six-Day War in 1967, the camp has been under Israeli occupation along with the rest of the Gaza Strip. Khaled Jarrar
Khaled Jarrar (born 1976) is a Palestinian visual artist. He has worked in various mediums, including photography, video art, sculpture, installation art, and performance art. His work explores issues around the occupation of Palestine. Jarrar is based in Ramallah, Palestine. Biography Born in 1976 in Jenin, his work explores the realities and impacts of occupation and power struggle on the Palestinian lived experience, particularly in the West Bank. Mike Hoolboom
Michael Hoolboom (born 1 January 1959) is a Canadian independent, experimental filmmaker. Having begun filmmaking at an early age, Hoolboom released his first major work, a "film that's not quite a film" entitled ''White Museum'', in 1986. Although he continued to produce films, his rate of production improved drastically after he was diagnosed with HIV in 1988 or 1989; this gave a "new urgency" to his works.
