The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. Seathwaite, Allerdale
Seathwaite is a small hamlet in Borrowdale valley in the Lake District of Cumbria, North West England. It is located southwest of Keswick at the end of a minor road that heads southwest from the hamlet of Seatoller, which is where the B5289 road begins its steep climb up the pass to Honister Hause on the boundary between Borrowdale civil parish and Buttermere civil parish. The nearby Seathwaite Fell takes its name from the hamlet and lies about to the south-southwest of it. The name derives from a combination of the Old Norse words ''sef'' ( sedges) and ''thveit'' (clearing) and may be taken to mean "clearing in the sedges". The name, then spelled Seuthwayt, first appeared in written records in 1340. Seatoller
Seatoller is a settlement in Borrowdale in the English Lake District. Historic counties of England, Historically part of Cumberland, it lies on the B5289 road at the east foot of the Honister Pass, and to the south of Derwent Water. The nearest town to Seatoller is Keswick, Cumbria, Keswick, which is situated approximately to the north. Seatoller was the destination of a regular walkers bus in the 1960s and 1970s which left Carlisle, Cumbria, Carlisle each Sunday at 07:30 giving access by public transport into the heart of the lakes. The hamlet consists of a farmhouse, two bed and breakfasts, a tea shop and two rows of cottages.
