Taylor Widener
Taylor Browning Widener (born October 24, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and in the KBO League for the NC Dinos and Samsung Lions. Career Amateur career Widener attended South Aiken High School in Aiken, South Carolina and played college baseball at the University of South Carolina. He was both a starter and relief pitcher at South Carolina. After his junior season, he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 12th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. New York Yankees Widener made his professional debut with the Staten Island Yankees and was promoted to the Charleston RiverDogs after not allowing a run over innings with Staten Island. The Staten Island Yankees were a minor league baseball team located in the New York City borough of Staten Island from 1999 to 2020. The Jackson Generals were a professional baseball team located in Jackson, Tennessee. In Major League Baseball, a player to be named later (PTBNL) is an unnamed player involved in exchange or "trade" of players between teams. The terms of a trade are not finalized until a later date, most often following the conclusion of the season. Postponing a trade's final conditions or terms is often done for several reasons. First, the team receiving the PTBNL might not be certain which position they want to fill, so this type of deal gives them more time to figure it out. Second, this type of arrangement gives the team receiving the PTBNL more time to evaluate the available talent on the other team.
