Tayfun Gönül
Tayfun Gönül (1958, İzmit - 30 July 2012, Istanbul) was a Anarchism in Turkey, Turkish anarchist, writer, doctor and the first conscientious objector in Turkey. Biography Gönül's childhood years were spent in Izmir and Istanbul. After graduating from Ankara Science High School, he studied medicine at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and graduated as a qualified doctor. His father was also a doctor like himself. Since his high school years, he wrote a plethora of articles for Halkın Sesi (Aydınlık). In the 1980s, he started writing for the magazines Sokak and Yeni Olgu, and in 1986 he began writing for ''Kara'', the first anarchist magazine in Turkey. Moving from Istanbul to Izmir, Gönül founded the Izmir War Resisters Association. In 1989, he declared his conscientious objection to the Conscription, compulsory military service that existed in the Turkish state at the time, and took the Turkish state to court over this matter. İzmit () is a municipality and the capital Districts of Turkey, district of Kocaeli Province, Turkey. Its area is 480 km2, and its population is 376,056 (2022). Anarchism in Turkey only began to emerge in 1986 with publication of the magazine ''Kara''. Historical background Ottoman Period The first signs of anarchism in the Ottoman period emerged around Armenian intellectuals. '' Hamanykh'' magazine, published in 1895 by Aleksandr Atabekyan, one of the pioneers of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, has a rich content regarding both anarchist philosophy and the Armenian revolutionary movement. In the same period, Turkish Cypriot Kıbrıslızade Osman Bey's French work ''Socialisme et Anarchisme'' (1895) became the first anarchist book published in the Ottomans. Conscientious Objector
A conscientious objector is an "individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service" on the grounds of freedom of conscience or religion. The term has also been extended to objecting to working for the military–industrial complex due to a crisis of conscience. In some countries, conscientious objectors are assigned to an alternative civilian service as a substitute for conscription or military service. A number of organizations around the world celebrate the principle on May 15 as International Conscientious Objection Day. Ankara High School of Science (; also called as its old name High School of Science [Fen Lisesi - (FL]) is a public boarding high school in Ankara, Turkey with a curriculum concentrated on natural sciences and mathematics for top-notch students. Conscription
Conscription, also known as the draft in the United States and Israel, is the practice in which the compulsory enlistment in a national service, mainly a military service, is enforced by law. Conscription dates back to antiquity and it continues in some countries to the present day under various names. The modern system of near-universal national conscription for young men dates to the French Revolution in the 1790s, where it became the basis of a very large and powerful military. Most European nations later copied the system in peacetime, so that men at a certain age would serve 1 to 8 years on active duty and then transfer to the reserve force. Myocardial Infarction
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when Ischemia, blood flow decreases or stops in one of the coronary arteries of the heart, causing infarction (tissue death) to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is retrosternal Angina, chest pain or discomfort that classically radiates to the left shoulder, arm, or jaw. The pain may occasionally feel like heartburn. This is the dangerous type of acute coronary syndrome. Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, nausea, presyncope, feeling faint, a diaphoresis, cold sweat, Fatigue, feeling tired, and decreased level of consciousness.
