Tavernier is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Monroe County, Florida, United States on Key Largo, the largest island in the upper Florida Keys. Tavernier's population was 2,530 at the 2020 census, up from 2,136 in 2010. Geography Tavernier is located at (25.015156, -80.513678). It occupies the southwesternmost of Key Largo, the largest of the Florida Keys. Tavernier is bordered to the northeast by the community of Key Largo and to the southwest, across Tavernier Creek, by the village of Islamorada on Plantation Key. U.S. Route 1 (the Overseas Highway) runs through Tavernier, leading southwest to Key West and northeast to Miami. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Tavernier CDP has a total area of , of which , or 4.66%, are water. Tavernier Blue
The Tavernier Blue was the precursor diamond to the Blue Diamond of the French Crown (aka the French Blue). Subsequently, most scholars and historians believed that it was re-cut and, after a disappearance and reemergence into the public forum, was renamed the Hope Diamond. In December 2007, the French mineralogy professor found in the reserves of the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle the lead model of the Tavernier Blue. This model came around 1850, and was given by the Parisian jeweller Charles Achard, who explained that the Anglo-Dutch collector Henry Philip Hope was the owner of the original stone. Moreover, the size of the model definitively proved that the Tavernier Blue was bigger than the Hope. This latest piece of evidence proved that the widely held suspicions about the origin of the Hope Diamond were correct. Mégiscane River
The Mégiscane River is a tributary of Parent Lake (Abitibi). It flows in the Northwest of Quebec, in Canada, in the administrative regions of: *Mauricie: in the westernmost part of the town of La Tuque; *Abitibi-Témiscamingue: in the territory of Senneterre (parish), in Abitibi Regional County Municipality. Its mouth is located in the unorganized territory of Lac-Despinassy, Quebec. The Mégiscane River is one of the most important rivers in the region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
