Tavares, Rio Grande Do Sul
Tavares is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It has received some newsworthy highlights as several parts of the municipality were abandoned in the late 1990s due to dune and sea reclaiming the area. Some families left the area as early as 1986 due to harsh conditions to keep access and the area from eroding. The area has been eventually turned into a reserve, called "Parque Nacional da Lagoa do Peixe" (National Park of the Fish Lagoon). Villages like Barra da Lagoa (which once held over 200 families) and Balneário Paiva (around 25 families) are all but faded remains, the later having almost nothing left. In Balneário de Lagamarzinho, where once a community of at least 250 families lived, due streets were swallowed by the sea, The only settlement as of 2015 was Balneário de Talha-Mar, where once 180 families lived, only a few remain. Rodovia Raposo Tavares (official designation SP-270) is the longest highway in the state of São Paulo (state), São Paulo, Brazil, with 654 km. It was opened in 1937. The highway starts in the city of São Paulo and continues westward, serving the main cities of Cotia, Vargem Grande Paulista, São Roque, São Paulo, São Roque, Sorocaba, Itapetininga, Angatuba, Ourinhos, Assis, Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, Presidente Prudente, Presidente Bernardes, São Paulo, Presidente Bernardes, Presidente Venceslau and Presidente Epitácio, at the shores of the Paraná River, by the border with Mato Grosso do Sul. Tavares Bastos is a favela in the Catete neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is named after the Brazilian politician Aureliano Cândido Tavares Bastos. The main access road is the ''Rua Tavares Bastos''. Many films have been filmed in the Tavares Bastos, including ''Elite Squad'', '' Last Stop 174'' and ''The Incredible Hulk''. The Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams music video "Beautiful" was also filmed in the favela. The favela used to be the only major city slum where drug trafficking or activities of militias were curtailed due to the presence of the headquarters of the Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais, the special police unit of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State. Tavares River
The Tavares River or Rio Tavares is a river of Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina state in southeastern Brazil. Rio Tavares is also the name of a neighborhood in the city which is cut by the river. Biolife Part of the Pirajubaé Marine Extractive Reserve since 20 May 1992, it holds various species of pink (''Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis'') and white (''Litopenaeus schmitti'') shrimps in the mangroves. The river holds the Brazilian Mullets (Mugil brasiliensis), Silver Mullets ( Mugil curema), crabs, catfishes and other species. Tavares, Florida
Tavares (, ) is a city and the county seat of Lake County, Florida. The population at the 2020 census was 19,003, and in 2019 the population was estimated to be 17,749. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Organized in 1885, and completed in 1888 on land donated by St. Clair-Abrams, the Union Congregational Church was the first church in Tavares. Tavares was founded in 1880 by Alexander St. Clair-Abrams, a newspaper and railroad man from a Creole family in New Orleans . He gave it the surname of a Portuguese ancestor. In 1883 a post office was established; by the next year, a hotel, three stores, a sawmill, and eight cottages were built. Investing over half a million dollars of his own money.
