Tauranga Art Gallery
Tauranga Art Gallery an Arts Gallery located in the Western Bay of Plenty District, New Zealand. The gallery exhibits historical and contemporary art. History In 1999 the Tauranga Art Gallery Trust purchased the former Bank of New Zealand building located on the corner of Willow and Wharf Streets. In 2006, the building was refurbished by Watts and Hughes Construction. Construction was completed in May 2007. The building provides 1,300 square metres of floor space, over two levels, with 700 square metres of exhibition space. Western Bay Of Plenty District
Western Bay of Plenty District is a territorial district within the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand. The district envelops Tauranga City by land, and includes Matakana Island, at the entrance to Tauranga Harbour. Local government The seat of the Western Bay of Plenty District Council is at Greerton in Tauranga City (which is a separate area that is not part of the district). The district came into being in the local government reorganisation of 1989; with minor modifications to the boundaries, it merged the old Tauranga County and Te Puke Borough. Helen Clark
Helen Elizabeth Clark (born 26 February 1950) is a New Zealand politician who served as the 37th prime minister of New Zealand from 1999 to 2008, and was the administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from 2009 to 2017. She was New Zealand's fifth-longest-serving prime minister, and the second woman to hold that office. Clark was brought up on a farm outside Hamilton. She entered the University of Auckland in 1968 to study politics, and became active in the New Zealand Labour Party. After graduating she lectured in political studies at the university. Clark entered local politics in 1974 in Auckland but was not elected to any position. Following one unsuccessful attempt, she was elected to Parliament in as the member for Mount Albert, an electorate she represented until 2009.
