Tasmania Devils Football Club (VFL)
The Tasmania Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, is a professional Australian rules football club expected to compete in the Australian Football League (AFL) from the 2028 season and the AFL Women's (AFLW) from the 2027 Season. The club is based in Tasmania and will play home matches in Hobart and Launceston, Tasmania, Launceston, the two largest cities in the state. Both York Park in Launceston and Bellerive Oval in Hobart will host games initially, with the Hobart-based matches moving to the new Macquarie Point Stadium in 2029. In May 2023, Tasmania secured an AFL licence following a unanimous vote of AFL club presidents. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the pre-eminent professional sports, professional competition of Australian rules football. Jeremy Page Rockliff Tasmanian House of Assembly, MP (born 5 February 1970) is an Australian politician currently serving as the 47th premier of Tasmania. Rockliff's Premiership of Jeremy Rockliff, premiership began in 2022 following the resignation of Peter Gutwein. He previously served as deputy premier of Tasmania, deputy premier from 2014 to 2022. Rockliff was raised in Sassafras, Tasmania, and was a farmer before entering politics. The AFL Commission is the governing body of the Australian Football League Limited (AFL), its subsidiaries and controlled entities. Peter Carl Gutwein () (born 21 December 1964) is a former Australian politician who was the 46th premier of Tasmania from 2020 to 2022. He was a Liberal Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2002 to 2022, representing the electorate of Bass. Brett Godfrey (born 8 August 1963) is an Australian businessman and co-founder of Virgin Australia.
