Tartu Big Diamonds
Tartu Big Diamonds was an Estonian professional ice hockey team who played in the Latvian Hockey Higher League (Samsung premjerliga). They were founded in 2007, and played their first game, a friendly match against Eesti Noortekoondis on the 6th of August in 2007 in Narva. Big Diamonds won the game 20 to 2. The club played 10 of the team's home games in Tartu, 4 in Narva, 4 in Tallinn, and 2 in Kohtla-Järve. They dissolved in the summer of 2008 due to financial problems. Tartu
Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after the Northern European country's political and financial capital, Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 91,407 (as of 2021). Liepāja
Liepāja (; liv, Līepõ; see other names) is a state city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea. It is the largest-city in the Kurzeme Region and the third-largest city in the country after Riga and Daugavpils. It is an important ice-free port. The population in 2020 was 68,535 people. Leonīds Beresņevs
Leonīds Beresņevs (russian: Леони́д Арка́дьевич Бе́реснев, ''Leonid Arkadyevich Beresnev''; born 6 July 1958) is a Latvian/ Soviet former ice hockey player and coach. Born in Kirov Oblast he is a coach of the Latvian U-20 junior team. His first term of coaching the Latvian national team was from 1996 till 1999. In the 1996 world championships, when Latvia was playing in division B, they won and for the first time were promoted to division A where they finished at 7th place in 1997. From that time they have remained in division A. Beresņevs' second term started in 2004 and ended in 2006. In 2005 Latvia qualified for Torino Olympics where they took the last place. Beresņevs has been a coach for almost all the best Latvian ice hockey clubs since 1995. In 1996/1997 his coached Juniors Riga took gold at EEHL. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence.
