Taro (département)
Taro () was a Departments of France, department of the First French Empire in present-day Italy. It was named after the Taro River. It was formed in 1808, when the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza was annexed by France under the Treaty of Lunéville. Its capital was Parma. The department was disbanded after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814. At the Congress of Vienna, the Duchy was restored and given to Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, Marie Louise, Napoleon's wife. Its territory is now divided between the Italian provinces of Province of Parma, Parma and Province of Piacenza, Piacenza. The most notable person born in the then-Département of Taro was the composer Giuseppe Verdi (born 9 or 10 October 1813 in the village of Le Roncole near Busseto). First French Empire
The First French Empire or French Empire (; ), also known as Napoleonic France, was the empire ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte, who established French hegemony over much of continental Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. Giuseppe Verdi
Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi ( ; ; 9 or 10 October 1813 – 27 January 1901) was an Italian composer best known for List of compositions by Giuseppe Verdi, his operas. Piacenza
Piacenza (; ; ) is a city and (municipality) in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy, and the capital of the province of Piacenza, eponymous province. As of 2022, Piacenza is the ninth largest city in the region by population, with more than 102,000 inhabitants. Fornovo Di Taro
Fornovo di Taro () is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Parma, in the Italy, Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about west of Bologna and about southwest of Parma. The town lies on the east bank of the Taro (river), Taro River. Fornovo di Taro borders the following municipalities: Collecchio, Medesano, Sala Baganza, Solignano, Terenzo, Varano de' Melegari. Colorno ( Parmigiano: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Parma, within the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It is located about northwest of Bologna and approximately north of Parma.
