Tarbes (; Gascon language, Gascon: ''Tarba'') is a Communes of France, commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie Regions of France, region of southwestern France. It is the capital of Bigorre and of the Hautes-Pyrénées. It has been a commune since 1790. It was known as ''Turba'' or ''Tarba'' in Ancient Rome, Roman times. Diocese Of Tarbes-et-Lourdes
The Diocese of Tarbes et Lourdes (Latin: ''Dioecesis Tarbiensis et Lourdensis''; French language, French: ''Diocèse de Tarbes et Lourdes'') is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in France. Until 2002 Tarbes was a Suffragan bishop, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Auch. It is now a suffragan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toulouse, Archdiocese of Toulouse. Erected in the 4th century, the diocese of Tarbes is the historical diocese of Bigorre, part of the larger region of Gascony. The diocese were suppressed in 1801 following the Concordat of 1801, concordat, it was restored in 1822 and has since covered the department of Hautes-Pyrénées. Lourdes
Lourdes (, also , ; ) is a market town situated in the Pyrenees. It is part of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region in southwestern France. Bigorre (; Gascon: ''Bigòrra'') is a region in southwest France, historically an independent county and later a French province, located in the upper watershed of the Adour, on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees, part of the larger region known as Gascony. Today Bigorre comprises the centre and west of the ''département'' of Hautes-Pyrénées, with two small exclaves in the neighbouring Pyrénées Atlantiques. Its inhabitants are called '' Bigourdans''. 35th Parachute Artillery Regiment
The 35th Parachute Artillery Regiment () is the only airborne artillery unit of the French Army forming the air artillery component of the 11th Parachute Brigade. It is based in Tarbes together with the air cavalry, the 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment. Tarbais Beans
The Tarbais bean is a local variety of the bean ''Phaseolus vulgaris'' from the south-west of France. It is a product of terroir, whose production area lies mainly within the Hautes-Pyrénées, but also in some municipalities of Gers, Haute-Garonne and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Recognised by the Label Rouge since 1997 and the PGI since 2000, its characteristics are guaranteed by specific scope statements. Gascony
Gascony (; ) was a province of the southwestern Kingdom of France that succeeded the Duchy of Gascony (602–1453). From the 17th century until the French Revolution (1789–1799), it was part of the combined Province of Guyenne and Gascony. The region is vaguely defined, and the distinction between Guyenne and Gascony is unclear; by some they are seen to overlap, while others consider Gascony a part of Guyenne. Bayonne () is a city in southwestern France near the France–Spain border, Spanish border.
