The Cat Empire
The Cat Empire are an Australian jazz/funk band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1999. For most of the band's duration, the core members were Felix Riebl (lead vocals, percussion), Harry James Angus (trumpet, vocals), Will Hull-Brown (drums), Jamshid "Jumps" Khadiwhala (turntables, percussion), Ollie McGill (keyboards, backing vocals) and Ryan Monro (bass, backing vocals). Monro retired from the band in March 2021, while Angus, Hull-Brown and Khadiwhala all left in April 2022. They are often supplemented by The Empire Horns, a brass duo composed of Ross Irwin (trumpet) and Kieran Conrau (trombone), among others. Their sound is a fusion of jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy Latin influences. ''Rising with the Sun'' is the seventh studio album by Melbourne band The Cat Empire. It was produced by Jan Skubiszewski and released on 4 March 2016 through Two Shoes Records. The first single was "Qué Será Ahora", followed by "Wolves" and "Bulls". "Wolves" placed at number 79 in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2015. It debuted at number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart, the band's second number-one debut, the first being '' Two Shoes'' (2005). Reception '' Rolling Stone Australia'' awarded the album four out of five stars, saying that ''Rising with the Sun'' was a "remarkably intercontinental affair." However, rather than study or concentrate on an exam, all he could think about was playing music, playing basketball, or asking a childhood crush out on a date. ''Live on Earth'' is the first full-length live album released by Melbourne band The Cat Empire. (The band had previously released an EP disc titled ''Live @ Adelphia''). The album is a compilation of tracks recorded at shows between August 2006 and December 2008. It included songs recorded at venues in Australia, France, the UK, the US and Canada. The album was originally scheduled to be released on 28 February 2009 in Australia, but was officially released a week earlier (though many retailers released the album days before the 21st.)
