Tapachula Soconusco F.C. is a football club that plays in the Liga Premier de México – Serie A. It is based in Tapachula, Mexico. History The team was founded on October 26, 2023, with the objective of giving a professional soccer team to the city of Tapachula, after five years without a representative team, this after the relocation of Cafetaleros de Chiapas to Tuxtla Gutiérrez in 2019. The team's founding occurred midway through the 2023–24 season, so Tapachula Socunusco was only able to participate in amateur soccer tournaments, winning a championship known as the Liga Sureste MX in June 2024. During the fall of 2023, the team announced that it would participate in the Liga TDP starting with the 2024–25 season, which would represent the club's debut in the professional categories of Mexican football. Estadio Olímpico de Tapachula is a multi-purpose stadium in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium seats 18,017 people. In 2015 the stadium was renovated in order to house Tapachula's Ascenso MX franchise, Cafetaleros de Tapachula. Tapachula de Córdova y Ordóñez, simply known as Tapachula, is a city and municipality located in the far southeast of the state of Chiapas, Mexico, near the Guatemalan border and the Pacific Ocean. Liga Premier is a professional association football league in Mexico and the third level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Segunda División de México (1950–2017). It has 52 participating clubs, divided into two divisions (Serie A de México, Serie A and Serie B de México, Serie B). The Serie A has 38 teams (5 Liga de Expansión MX Reserve Teams and 33 Serie A Teams) divided into three groups. For the 2024–25 season, it will be a return of a short tournament format (Apertura & Clausura) consisting of 11 group matches and 3 inter-group matches (14 total) played home & away and the liguilla. Club de Fútbol Cafetaleros de Chiapas was a Mexican football club based in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas currently competing in Liga Premier de México, the third tier of Mexican football. Liga TDP is a professional association football league in Mexico and the fourth level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Tercera División de México (1967–2017). It has 223 participating clubs, divided into 17 regional groups by geographic location.
