Tanners' Mosque
The Tanners' Mosque () is a historic mosque located near the Tanners' Bridge in Tirana, capital of Albania. Built in the neighborhood of the handicraft-trade Tanners' guild around the seventeenth century in the Ottoman Empire, it was damaged by a lightning shot but continues to function thanks to improvements made by the family Resmja which even today continues to care for. The current preacher (imam) of the mosque is the theologian Elvis Naçi. Sunni Islam
Sunni Islam is the largest Islamic schools and branches, branch of Islam and the largest religious denomination in the world. Tirana
Tirana ( , ; ) is the capital and List of cities and towns in Albania, largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills, with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Tirana County (), officially the County of Tirana (), is a county in the Central Region of Albania. It is the tenth largest by area and the most populous of the twelve counties, with more than 912,000 people within an area of . Mosque
A mosque ( ), also called a masjid ( ), is a place of worship for Muslims. The term usually refers to a covered building, but can be any place where Salah, Islamic prayers are performed; such as an outdoor courtyard. Originally, mosques were simple places of prayer for the early Muslims, and may have been open spaces rather than elaborate buildings. Tanners' Bridge
The Tanners' Bridge () is an 18th-century Ottoman period stone footbridge located in Tirana, Albania. The bridge, built near the Tanners' Mosque, was once part of the ''Saint George Road'' that linked Tirana with the eastern highlands. The road was the route by which livestock and produce entered the city. The bridge crossed the Lanë stream near the area where butcher shops and leather workers were located. The bridge fell into disrepair when the Lanë was diverted in the 1930s. In the 1990s, the bridge was restored for use by pedestrians. History The Tanners' Bridge was part of the road that connected Tirana with Debar through Shëngjergj, also called ''Shëngjergj Road'' (). Imam (; , '; : , ') is an Islamic leadership position. For Sunni Islam, Sunni Muslims, Imam is most commonly used as the title of a prayer leader of a mosque. Elvis Naçi
Elvis Naçi (born April 7, 1977Tirana) is an Albanian theologian and Imam. He was the director of Islamic preaching at the Islamic Community of Albania, which operates in the Tanners' Mosque (Tabak Mosque) in Tirana and is the founder and president of the ''Firdeus'' Non-Profit Cultural Foundation. Naçi is active on a Facebook page with over 1,300,000 follow-up subscribers (May 5, 2020) and regularly posts videos on his YouTube channel, which has more than 500,000 subscribers (May 5, 2020). The Muslim Community of Albania (KMSH; ) is an independent religious organisation of Muslims in Albania existing since February 24, 1923.
