Tanner Swanson
Tanner Swanson is an American professional baseball coach. He is the major league quality control coach and catching coordinator for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously served as the Minor and Major League Catching Coordinator for the Minnesota Twins. Career Swanson attended Cle Elum-Roslyn High School in Cle Elum, Washington. He played four years of college baseball. He spent his freshman season at Green River College, sophomore season at Everett Community College, and his final two seasons at Central Washington University. He graduated from Central Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and School Health. Swanson spent 2007 and 2008 as a health education teacher and baseball coach at Sultan Senior High School. He was an assistant coach for Everett Community College in 2009. Coach (baseball)
In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. Beyond the manager, more than a half dozen coaches may assist the manager in running the team. Essentially, baseball coaches are analogous to assistant coaches in other sports, as the baseball manager is to the head coach. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat.
