Tanglin Secondary School was a co-educational government secondary school in Clementi, Singapore. History Tanglin Technical Secondary School (1964 - 1993) Tanglin Secondary School which was located at 369 Commonwealth Avenue in the area called Tanglin Halt was officially opened by Education Minister Ong Pang Boon on 16 October 1964. It was Singapore’s first Chinese medium technical school, and the first institution to admit female students to technical courses. It was renamed Tanglin Technical Secondary School in 1969. The school motto was in Malay, “Berusaha Untok Berjaya”, of which translates to the same meaning as the current motto in English. Clementi, Singapore
Clementi ( , ) is a planning area and residential town located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west. Etymology "Clementi" derives its name from 'Clementi Road', the main traffic route that still runs into the district to this day. It was once known as 'Reformatory Road' as there was a boys' home situated along the road. In 1947, the Singapore Rural Board discussed renaming the road. Their original intention was to name it after Sir Hugh Clifford, but it was eventually named as Clementi Road. Mark Phooi Peck Lye is a Singaporean entrepreneur in the design industry. He is the founder and CEO of First Media Pte Ltd (FM), a holding company that manages a collection of design agencies and design institutions. Mohammad Shahril bin Ishak (born 23 January 1984) is a Singaporean retired professional footballer who played as a midfielder or forward. A former captain of the Singapore national team where he become the first Singaporean to win three AFF Championship title. Along with Baihakki Khaizan, Hassan Sunny and Khairul Amri, Shahril was in the pioneer batch of the National Football Academy in 2000. Zainudin bin Nordin ( Jawi: زاينودين نوردين; born 3 July 1963) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Mayor of Central Singapore District. West Coast MRT Station
West Coast MRT station is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Jurong Region line (JRL) and Cross Island line (CRL) located in Clementi, Singapore. It will serve West Coast Road, West Coast Highway, and West Coast Drive. First announced in September 2022, the station is expected to be completed in 2032 along with the other CRL Phase 2 stations.
