Tanel Sokk
Tanel Sokk (born 20 January 1985) is an Estonian professional basketball player who plays for TalTech Basketball Team of the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Standing at 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in), he plays at the point guard position. He also represents the Estonian national basketball team internationally. Professional career Sokk began playing basketball in his father's, Tiit Sokk's, basketball school. He began his professional career in 2002 with Nybit of the Korvpalli Meistriliiga, coached by his father. On his first season in the KML, Sokk averaged 13.12 points per game and won the KML Best Young Player Award. Dalkia/Nybit finished the 2005–06 season in third place. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. VTB United League Top Player
The VTB United League Top Player is an annual VTB United League award that is given to one player from each country that is represented by the league's clubs. The award has been handed out since the 2012–13 season, and it is awarded by the player's citizenship, regardless of the player's club's location. Basketball At The 1988 Summer Olympics
Basketball at the 1988 Summer Olympics was the twelfth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at the Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea from 17 September to 30 September 1988. The United States won the gold medal in the women's competition, repeating their performance from the 1984 tournament. In the men's tournament, the Soviet Union took home their second gold medal in the team's history for this event. In the team, Baltic basketballers were overrepresented: Sabonis, Chomičius, Kurtinaitis and Marčiulionis were Lithuanian, Miglinieks was Latvian, and Kaj Sokk was Estonian. EuroBasket 2015
EuroBasket 2015 was the 39th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Croatia, France, Germany, and Latvia, making it the first EuroBasket held in more than one country. It started on 5 September and ended on 20 September 2015. 2013–14 KML Season
The 2013–14 Alexela Korvpalli Meistriliiga was the 89th season of the Estonian basketball league and the first under the title sponsorship of Alexela. Kalev/Cramo came into the season as defending champions of the 2012–13 KML season. The season started on 27 September 2013 and concluded on 21 May 2014 with Kalev/Cramo defeating TÜ/Rock 4 games to 0 in the 2014 KML Finals to win their 7th Estonian League title. Tiit Sokk (born 15 November 1964) is a retired Estonian professional basketball player and current coach. Often cited as one of the very best European point guards of his generation, he is widely recognized as the greatest Estonian basketball player in history. Estonia Men's National Basketball Team
The Estonia men's national basketball team ( et, Eesti korvpallikoondis) represents Estonia in international basketball matches. They are controlled by the Estonian Basketball Association.
