In 1998, she became the first woman to complete Stage 1 of '' Sasuke'' (known as ''Ninja Warrior'' franchise globally), during the 2nd Competition. Makoto Tanabe
(February 25, 1922 – July 2, 2015) was the chairman of the former Japan Socialist Party, now known as the Social Democratic Party of Japan. He was elected to the position in 1991. Tanabe Sakuro
was a Japanese civil engineer and early pioneer in the development of hydro electric power. Tanabe’s most famous achievement was the Lake Biwa Canal that runs from Lake Biwa to Kyoto city. For his work as Chief Engineer directing the project and paper entitled “The Lake Biwa - Kyoto Canal” published in 1894, Tanabe was awarded a Telford Medal by the British Institution of Civil Engineers. The canal passes through a series of tunnels and was the site of Japan's first Hydro-electric power station. Tanabe worked for many years as a Director for the Hokkaidō Kansetsu Railway. Tanabe no Sakimaro (田辺福麻呂; dates unknown) was a Japanese '' waka'' poet of the Nara period. Biography The year of Tanabe no Sakimaro's birth is unknown. His ''kabane'' was Fuhito (史). He may have acted as a court poet to the imperial household, similarly to Kakinomoto no Hitomaro and Yamabe no Akahito. It is unknown when he died. Moritake Tanabe
was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, commanding the IJA 25th Army from April 1943 until the surrender of Japan. He was the brother-in-law of General Hitoshi Imamura. After the war, Tanabe was charged with war crimes, found guilty, and hanged in 1949. Early life and education Tanabe was from Ishikawa prefecture, where his father was a former samurai of Kaga Domain and later a colonel in the early Imperial Japanese Army.
