Tan Si Chong Su
Tan Si Chong Su, or Ancestral Hall of the Tan Clan, is a Chinese temple in Singapore. It is located on Magazine Road in the Singapore River Planning Area within Singapore's Central Area, Singapore, central business district. It was constructed between 1876 and 1878 as the Ancestral Hall, ancestral temple for those with the same Tan surname, based on the premise that Chinese people with the same surname would share a common ancestry and therefore belong to the same clan. The Temple also dedicated to Tan Goan-kong, Kai Zhang Sheng Wang (開漳聖王), the Patron Deity and founder of Zhangzhou City in China. The temple is also known as the "Tan Seng Haw" and ''Po Chiak Keng'' (保赤宮, also written as ''Bao Chi Gong'' and other variants), meaning "palace for the protection of the innocent", reflecting its earlier role as a place that provided help for those in disputes as well as new Chinese immigrants in Singapore. Tan Chin Tuan
Tan Chin Tuan CBE (; 21 November 1908 – 13 November 2005) was a Singaporean banker and philanthropist who served as the chairman of OCBC Bank from 1966 to 1983. Tan is often credited with helping to establish the OCBC Bank through its mergers. He was the paternal uncle of former president Tony Tan. Biography Early life Born in 1908, Tan was the son of prominent Hokkien businessman, Tan Cheng Siong, a General Manager of the Oversea-Chinese Bank Ltd. Tan grew up under the harsh conditions of the Great Depression, having lost his father during his schooling years. Educated at Anglo-Chinese School, he was compelled to leave school at the age of 17 to begin work at the Chinese Commercial Bank—which merged with Ho Hong Bank that same year to form OCBC Bank. Tun Sir Cheng Lock Tan KBE, SMN, DPMJ, JP () (5 April 1883 – 13 December 1960) was a Malaysian Peranakan businessman and a key public figure who devoted his life to fighting for the rights and the social welfare of the Chinese community in Malaya. Tan was also the founder and the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA), which advocated his cause for the Malayan Chinese population. Tan Siew Sin
Tan Siew Sin (; 21 May 1916 – 17 March 1988) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Finance, and 3rd President of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA, formerly Malayan Chinese Association), a major component party of Alliance and later Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions.
