Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Exceptions include overtime during the regular season and when a team is shorthanded (i.e. has been assessed a penalty), in which two defencemen are typically joined by only two forwards and a goaltender. MAC Budapest
MAC HKB Újbuda is a Hungarian ice hockey team that currently plays in the Erste Liga. They play their home games at Tüskecsarnok, located in Budapest. In their first year of competition they would finish second in the regular season, and would reach the league finals, being swept in 4 games by DVTK Jegesmedvék. In their second season MAC would once again finish the regular season in 2nd place. They won their first playoff series 4-1 over Fehérvári Titanok, as well as their second over Debreceni HK in the semi-final 4-1. In the final they would be swept four games to one by the defending champions DVTK Jegesmedvék to once again finish in second place overall. In 2018 team began new era with joining slovak Tipsport liga. Arena MAC HKB Újbuda plays out of the newly renovated Tüskecsarnok on the 'Buda' side of Budapest. MOL Liga
The Erste Liga (formerly the MOL Liga) is an international ice hockey league organized for clubs based in Hungary and Romania. It is sponsored by the Erste Bank Hungary. The games played between the Hungarian teams count towards the Hungarian National Championship in the OB I Bajnokság. The Romanian teams also compete in the Romanian National Championship Liga NaÅ£ională. History In the first season, the league comprised six Hungarian teams and four Romanian teams. HC CsÃkszereda went undefeated in the post-season to win the first MOL Liga title. In 2009–10, the number of teams went down to five Hungarian and two Romanian teams. Following the regular season, they decided the winner in a final four system. The Budapest Stars met Újpesti TE in the final, after they beat SC CsÃkszereda and DAB-Docler, respectively.
